Our vegan dining resolution passed in Student Congress! Read more about the exciting process.
When it came to the vote, I personally tallied each resounding “Aye” and “Yes” with excitement and gratitude. Resolution 11-19 passed unanimously, with a final vote of 35 to 0.
Now we are just waiting for the resolution to be passed on to President Spaniolo’s office and it will go from there.
The resolution calls for more vegan options at UTA (at least one vegan entree per meal, as that is not happening currently), and clarity and availability of ingredients of the food served.
Thank you EVERYONE involved for your input and support of this resolution, whether you were a part of the writing process or a supporter. We could not have gotten this far without you.
The Vegan Club would like to specially thank the following groups, for your all of your wonderful support and insights that helped form the resolution:
- The Environmental Society at UTA
- UTA Asian Students Association
- UTA Muslim Students Association
- Nursing Constituency Council at UTA
- UTA Volunteers
- Black Student Nurses Association at UTA
- International Modern Buddhists at UTA
- Living Art Meditation Group at UTA
- UNT Dining Services (Especially Special Projects Manager Ken Botts)
- TX Mercy for Animals (Especially the director, Nora Kramer!)
- Zombie’s Food Truck
And a HUGE thank you to Student Congress and the committee assigned to our resolution. Thank you for giving us this opportunity and thank you for working so hard for the student body.
We’ve got our foot in the door! We’ll keep you updated on the progress of the implementation of the resolution.
